Course Description

University Teaching Foundations: This workshop counts towards the University Teaching Foundations program under the category of Reflective Teaching and Career Readiness (RTCR).

A Teaching Dossier is an integral document for evidencing and communicating your teaching practice and experience to your readers. They are a concise summary of your teaching accomplishments and effectiveness, often required when applying for academic positions, promotion or critical reflection on your teaching practice.

Join us for this session to collaboratively describe your fundamental approaches to teaching, find out what can count as evidence for your claims, and get feedback on your work.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • explain how teaching dossiers are typically used in academic job applications
  • describe the typical components of a teaching dossier, in particular the statement of teaching philosophy
  • begin to draft a statement of teaching philosophy using reflective exercises
