One-Year SoTL Certificate Program Expands Research Interests

Open Learning and Educational Support (OpenEd) is now accepting applications for the 2017-2018 cohort of inquire—a one-year graduate certificate in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).

The inquire Certificate—accredited by the UK-based Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA)—is designed to support research in teaching and learning and offers participants an opportunity to explore a research question and/or expand on their research interests beyond their own discipline.

Classroom sessions take place at the University of Guelph at the beginning and end of the program, with the remainder of the course material and activities delivered online.

The capstone experience of the program concludes with the presentation of papers at the annual University of Guelph Teaching & Learning Innovations (TLI) Conference in May of 2018.

Potential inquire participants include graduate students, instructors, faculty, and higher education professional staff who are interested in expanding their ability to conduct research on teaching and learning.

The 2017-2018 cohort of inquire is the third offering of the certificate program; the first two cohorts had 24 campus members successfully complete the certificate.

Applications for interested participants will be open from February 1 to April 1, 2017.
