Course Description

Strategic leadership and employee engagement are vital to the success of your organization. Learn how to strategically utilize sound leadership skills and styles, motivation theories, team building strategies, and organizational vision and goals to enhance the resilience and productivity of individual employees and teams, and your organization as a whole

While more broadly applicable, the course includes examples primarily from the school board and municipal environment. Regardless of your sector, you are invited to apply your knowledge and experience while engaging in the learning.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Apply effective leadership and management strategies to engender employee engagement and enhance organizational effectiveness
  • Demonstrate emotional intelligence and flexible leadership styles to be responsive to the needs of individuals and teams
  • Utilize motivational and engagement strategies to develop, enhance, and sustain high performing teams
  • Contribute to building a sustaining a positive organizational culture that values and upholds employee engagement

Early bird registration rates are offered as follows: $855.00 when registering 60 days prior to the course start date. $895.00 when registering 30 days prior to the course start date. Regular registration fees apply for registrations made less than 30 days prior to the course start date and are priced at $995.00.

*If one or more classes need to be rescheduled due to extenuating circumstances, the rescheduled class will be held on Tuesday December 9, 2025.

This course uses CourseLink, the University of Guelph’s Learning Management System and Zoom video conferencing. Please ensure you have the technical requirements to participate in the course. CourseLink access begins Friday October 31, 2025.

You are required to attend all scheduled online synchronous (live online) sessions.

Assignments may be due after the final live online class date. Details will be provided in the Course Outline in CourseLink.
