Foundations of Leadership for Retirement and Senior Living will explore leadership theories, research findings and practice issues to give participants an understanding of this fast growing sector. Understanding the needs, rights and choices of seniors, the future of the aging population, care and support services available, legislative requirements and current policy debates is essential to individuals interested in pursuing career growth in senior living. Together the students and faculty will explore the world of senior living. Participants will be given an inside glimpse of legislation requirements, demographic trends, financial, housing and care models. These will be approached through an interactive case study; tour of a seniors’ continuum of care; and guest presenters from various aspects of senior living. The Foundations of Leadership course is associated with the University of Guelph’s MA (Leadership) and MBA Program. By completing this course, learn how you can obtain a possible transfer credit towards the University of Guelph’s graduate management or leadership education .
