Course Description

In this course, students will learn leadership and management skills that can be applied in a business setting towards a sustainable world. Students will do a guided exploration of their sustainability mindset, explore the opportunities to either learn or improve their skills, and understand how to apply the concepts of sustainability in business. The learnings from the course can be applied to for-profit or not-for profit organizations and to any type of business where a combination of leadership and management will lead to personal and organizational success while focusing on sustainability principles.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, the learner should be able to:

  1. Assess their own sustainability mind-set;
  2. Explore leadership skills to promote a holistic view of sustainability;
  3. Assess the linkages that are needed between key sustainability concepts in management and businesses as practiced by for-profit and not-for-profit organizations;
  4. Develop analytical strategies to provide solutions for sustainability challenges; and
  5. Interpret the importance of relational and communication skills as part of leadership and management in a sustainability context.
